Today we are starting off this great series called “Rapid Fire Questions” by League family member, Pablo G. Villazan. Pablo’s first Q&A of the series is with our good friend/amazing artist, Edgar Plans. Hope you enjoy this Q&A like we did.

Who is Edgar Plans?

A person who likes to daydream.

Did you always want to be an artist? 

I did not think to be an artist, rather it was a need that my being was asking of me. Creating is my way of living, now I live from Art but I have always thought that I would only live for Art. Thanks to all the people who support me in my work, I can dedicate myself completely to my passion. I Paint, draw and live with art and artists. 

Where does your inspiration come from? 

I really like street art and children's art. They are very free and pure forms of art in my opinion. The world of illustration is one of my weaknesses. I love the graphic novel and children's illustration books. 

Which artists have the greatest influence on your work? 

Since I love art so much it is hard for me to choose, I can't only choose one. They are many who influence me such as: Picasso, Basquiat, Dubuffet, Van Gogh, Rothko, Pollock, Klee, Munch. The list can go on and on. 

What is your process to create your work?

I like to work alone in my studio with my music, coffee and all the time available to create. 

Is there something you can’t live without in your studio? 

There are two things that withstood the dawn of time that I have never thrown away and they always accompany me. My first easel that my parents gave me and my first wooden stool that my wife gave me 20 years ago when I shared a loft with other artists and it was my seat in a small room. 

What is the meaning behind your artwork? 

My works always seek to instill good values in people. I criticize human actions against the environment and social inequalities, I want people to be the same. Live your life and try to achieve your dreams. 

Imagine that your paintings could talk, what would they say about you? 

That I am a person who cares about his surroundings and hates inequalities. I don't criticize politics, I hate it. I criticize the way of being of envious people, surly, individualistic and not very supportive. We live in society and we have to respect each other. 

What advice would you give to your younger self? 

Some things will not be appreciated but you should do them the same. Go to bed every day satisfied with what you are doing. 

Do you find the social channel’s influence Positive or Negative? 

Very positive if not abused. It is a perfect tool to show your work to everyone in real time. You can create your own style within the networks.

Promotion, Relationship, Knowledge. 

What is your dream project? 

To be able to have a certain name in the art world, to be able to help emerging art, to be able to carry out a great exhibition and project in a great museum that all people enjoy the work.
