Who is Adriana Oliver?
Adriana Oliver is a painter who lives and works in Spain. She likes to spend time with her family, watching soccer and being surrounded by nature or eating gyozas when she is not working.
Did you always want to be an artist?
I never thought I would be an artist. In fact, just before going to university I wanted to study advertising.
Where does your inspiration come from?
I find inspiration working, not disconnecting in a certain way makes me continue to be inspired to continue to create new works. If I go a while without painting, I find it hard to reconnect with my work.
Which artists have the greatest influence on your work?
Alex Katz and Andy Warhol without a doubt.
What is your process to create your work?
My creative process begins by sketching new ideas on the iPad when I return home from the studio. As a result, it is more or less the same as one follows the line of work that has been created previously.
Is there something you can’t live without in your studio?
My kettle, I couldn't work without drinking tea!
What is the meaning behind your artwork?
I like to represent almost cinematographic scenes, with that point of drama that frames of the time could have.
Imagine that your paintings could talk, what would they say about you?
They would say: why is she dancing all the time?
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Have no doubts or don’t think so much and keep going!
Do you find the social channel’s influence Positive or Negative?
For me social networks are very positive. Being able to instantly connect with an audience from anywhere in the world is very rewarding.
Describe in 3 words how social channels affect you as an artist.
Well, I could not say 3 words exactly but the immediacy makes the work more alive and in that sense, with the response of the audience, you can have the door of the studio half open and show more of your creative process than if we did not have social networks.
What is your dream project?
The project of my dreams is to build my house from scratch also incorporating my studio.
