Bombs By Ai Weiwei

In partnership with the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, Ai Weiwei has created the limited edition print, Bombs, on the occasion of the Museum's exhibition Ai Weiwei: Bare Life  (September 28, 2019–January 5, 2020).

A compilation of 3-D renderings of conventional weapons and weapons of mass destruction, Bombs is the latest in a series of artworks by Ai that address critical global conditions, including political conflicts and war, that have resulted in massive casualties and the displacement of more than 70 million refugees. The 50 bombs depicted here—developed by a variety of countries—range from a 1911 grenade to a guided nuclear missile created in 2019.

Bombs is designed to be presented in a variety of mediums. In addition to this 72 x 48-inch print, it appeared as a monumental wallpaper installation in Ai Weiwei: Bare Life. The wallpaper will remain on view at the Museum through the spring 2020 season. - New Art Editions
